As part of the install process for SCCM 1511, you need to install KB3095113 on your SUPs to enable WSUS support for Windows 10 feature upgrades.
If you receive the following error when applying the hotfix then here’s how you remedy the situation:
‘The update is not applicable to your computer’
The preferred method is to update your device with all the latest patches as pre-requisites are required to install the patch.
However if you cannot follow that route then you need to download and install two pre-req KB installs.
Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919442 and download and install ‘March 2014 servicing stack update for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2’
Once installed head over to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355 and grab the ‘Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update: April 2014’. Scroll down to Method 2: Microsoft Download Center and select the relevant update for your system.
Then finish off by revisiting your KB3095113 install. This time you are in luck!
Last time when I had this error message, I had all those prereq update installed. Turns out I need to install WSUS before apply this hotfix. 🙂
Good point
Is it necessary to have WSUS installed on SCCM server, in order to upgrade SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 to SCCM 1511?
Not required for the upgrade
You are the man Paul. I have been battling with this for the whole day. I finally have updates installing now. Seems kb/2919442 gets confused when you upgrade from 2008 to 2012R2.
Nice one Marlon
That explains it. This is my exact same scenario. Thanks for helping restore my sanity.
Thank you for your remedy..It worked like a charm
🙂
Hi Paul
Got a problem with Win 2016 – SCCM (CB) on SQL 2016 (all installed from scratch): Sccm CB tells me KB3095113 and KB3159706 -aren’t applicable for my computer. I found nothing on the web about the behavior with Win 2016. – but I can’t upgrade my Win 10 OS to new builds, because I don’t get them. What can I do?
Tom, that’s a good question. I’ve not dabbled with Server 2016 yet so I can’t help. I suggest dropping the question at the TechNet forums https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?category=ConfigMgrCB or at Windows-Noob https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/forum/116-system-center-configuration-manager-current-branch/. Cheers Paul
Hello Tom,
I have the same problem. Do you have already a solution?
KB3095113 and KB315970 aren’t needed when you are using WSUS on Server 2016. All the broken stuff (we know about) is fixed so you shouldn’t need to patch it.
