Deploying Microsoft Teams to iOS MDM devices via hybrid Intune/ConfigMgr

This guide will run through the process of installing the Microsoft Teams application to the iOS devices in your company using the Company Portal on the device.

This process can be used for other applications within the Apple Store and this particular app does not require any MAM policies associated with it at present. Note however that the hybrid Intune docs for March 2017 it is stated that Teams is MAM enabled – maybe this is coming shortly, let me know if you have more info on this.

Before creating the application in ConfigMgr we need to get the URL to the app from iTunes or the App Store on the web.

Within iTunes, search for the app and then click the drop down next to the ‘Get’ button. Select ‘Copy Link’

In the ConfigMgr console’s Software Library workspace, navigate to Application Management>Applications. Right click and select ‘Create Application’

Microsoft Teams requires iOS 10.0.0  or later so we can set a requirement for this in our app properties. To do this right click the new application and select Properties.

Select the ‘Requirements’ tab and click the ‘Add’ button.

On an iOS device sign into the Company Portal with an account that is a member of the deployment collection. The app should appear in the ‘All Apps’ section. Tap to initiate the installation.

Click Install

You will be notified that the app will install from the App Store and that you will not be charged for the app. Click ‘Install’. Enter any App Store authentication details if prompted.

Microsoft Teams will download and install onto the device.

Open the app and authenticate with a Teams account when prompted.

  1. Any luck with when Microsoft will allow MAM to be applied to this application during deployment.? I am also trying to figure this out and waiting.

  2. MDM solutions change the world, not only the MDM solutions save money to the company who use them, but also save time and help in the proper management of all kind of devices tasks in easy manner.
